Wendy Dagworthy, Head of Fashion and Textiles at the RCA said: "Bags are now the must-have fashion item that can really make or break an outfit. The designs in this exhibition will show the breadth of ideas our students are capable of producing and the innovative way they use materials and craftsmanship. These bags wont just be for carrying your lipstick in!"

The Royal College of Art is the home of the world's only wholly postgraduate Fashion Department. Founded by Madge Garland, former Vogue editor in 1948, the School is renowned for its links with the clothing and textiles industry, ranging from companies such as Umbro to Missoni and Burberry. These professional contacts frequently lead to sponsorship, international placements and freelance design work for students and are one of the reasons behind the statistic-defying level of success that awaits students graduating from the College (92.5% of RCA Fashion MA graduates gain employment in the industry, and at the appropriate level). Graduates who have gone on to set up their own bag design labels include Orla Kiely and Adele Clarke who has also designed for Tanner Krolle.
