‘Lady Lace’ bottles explore a relationship between industrial reproduction and individuality in the handmade. Starting with hand turned bottle forms, moulds are made which are then cracked and carved into. The bottles are slip cast, with further carvings after each cast, resulting in a series of bottles each one different to the next, showing a delicately growing series of patterns and marks over the surfaces and out of the edges. The birds and the bunnies are casts of highly decorative, tacky, gaudy objects found in London’s markets. By remaking these, and leaving them pure white or gold, a newly desirable object is exposed.
