Emily Courtauld

Emily's work relates to the working cycle of the agricultural landscape. We see references to receptacles involved in working the land; cotton picking sacks and fruit packing skeps, bags used in the sowing of seeds, also containers for the harvesting and storing of the crop.
Utilising both ceramics and textiles, Emily's vessels are made from fine sheets of paper porcelain embossed with salvaged linens. This process turns the sturdiness of the source material on its head; lending delicacy and frailty to the textural pieces.
