The inspiration for my glassmaking has evolved from the nature of the material itself and its qualities that are unlike any other material. For the wavy bowl, strings were pulled from the melted glass in the furnace and fused in a kiln at a temperature high enough to adhere but low enough to keep a delicate basket like fragility. The plants have been created using lampwork technique and experimenting with borosilicate glass, better known as Pyrex glass. This lampwork technique is the only successful way to seal the liquid into the blown bubbles of the plants. Through my work I also aim not just to stimulate visual sensations but to also challenge the viewer's preconceptions and senses.
