In her work, Maike tries to capture the magic of things and make them
visible. She transforms her impressions into objects. Maike works both
as a jeweller and a silversmith; her ideas run parallel in both
disciplines. Her current jewellery focus is the flower, where she
combines silver, pearls and thin wire. Maike has found metal to be the
perfect vehicle for her work. It can be strong, soft, light, heavy,
rough, flexible, warm...each metal has it's own character. Selecting the
right material for the right piece in order to create an impression,
gives the piece its enchantment.
