"In my work I try to achieve simplicity and aesthetics using very stringent shapes. In 1996 I had the great fortune to stay for three months in New Mexico where I studied native Indian pottery. Felipe Ortega, potter and medicine man, taught me the traditional Indian way of coiling pots, which is a method that I have been using ever since as part of my ceramic expression. I have developed and personalised the method further, - lately by trying to create a meeting between the Native Indian tradition and the rocky landscapes of the island of Bornholm, and from this meeting new ceramic expressions have emerged. Through my work I aim to communicate essential themes such as wonder, balance and existence. I hope that each of my works reflect the intangible thoughts and dreams that went into creating them."
