Kei Tominaga’s Standing Spoon series draws out the beauty in the everyday object. Inspired by disposable plastic and paper spoons, Tominaga uses thin sheet metal to highlight the simplicity and beauty in the sharp folding lines and curves of a spoon.
“Soft sheet metals such as sliver, gold and copper are more flexible than we generally think, so I work with these metals exactly as I would work with other everyday materials such as paper.”
Very thin metal can hold a shape, so the beautiful curves and lines of paper and plastic spoons can be recreated. By choosing to use a precious metal, the spoon becomes something which is no longer lost or thrown away”.
Prices range from £150 - £190
