In support of our friends at the Syrian Supper Club, Yvonna Demczynska of Flow Gallery and Cathy Giangrande of The Global Heritage Fund UK are hosting a lively evening of delicious Syrian-inspired food. All proceeds go to the Hands Up Foundation, supporting humanitarian relief efforts in Aleppo, Syria.
Syrian Supper Club has been bestowing their festivities upon curious and fun loving friends since 2011 when three pals, Rose Lukas, Louisa Barnett and Johnnie Barnett, set out to do something to show their friends in Syria that they had not been forgotten and to raise money in light of the growing humanitarian crisis. Into the mix went food, fun, Syria, laughter, raising awareness, and another spritely member, George Butler, and out came the monthly series of suppers.
To date they have raised over £180,000, to support various aid projects in Syria, including funding the monthly salaries of a medical team in a field hospital in Aleppo. Since 2013, this team has been running an operating theatre and treating 700 patients a month, the majority of which are children living amidst a civil war. Before the war in Syria, Aleppo was a city of 5,000 doctors, now there are only 36. Never has the need for them been greater
This is a chance to eat and make merry with friends old and new, to learn a little about some fantastic 'on the ground' projects and be happy in the knowledge that you are also helping Syrians who are in desperate need.]
