Carefully chosen
materials and refined technique characterise my recent works towards a
simplification of form through a process of manipulation and refinement.
Chainsaw and custom-made tools carefully fashion the graceful contours,
continually subtracting mass. Working process combines material behaviour
with colour and texture. Oak bends a great deal, creating fluid lines in a
haphazard game of chance. Sycamore is unpredictable often resulting in
paper-thin vessels. Each piece is an individual, exciting form in its own
right, thus making the decision between one wood and another an integral
part of the creative process. |
