Each of these spoons has been hand carved, using traditional tools and techniques. The wood is worked green, (fresh living wood) and is collected on my many walks around the British Isles. The spoons have inspired a great generosity in many people who have given fabulous pieces from all over the world.
The spoon serves millions of people everyday. It is a humble object perhaps sometimes overlooked. For myself the spoon is a symbol of nourishment and it is a symbol of hope. To have a spoon in your hand means you intend to eat. When you place it in to the hand of another, it is their welfare that you intend to nourish.
