A New Collection is available at Flow Gallery by Rachel Bower, a Scottish Willow basketmaker rooted in Angus who makes strong and functional baskets for everyday use. Colour and lines are leading features in her work. Inspired by the meaning and memories that objects can hold within them and at the heart of her practice is a desire to make beautiful and distinctive pieces that will last for the next generation and collect their own stories over time.  

“I USE THREE VARIETIES OF TRADITIONALLY GROWN SOMERSET WILLOWS THAT I BUY WHEN THEY ARE FRESHLY CUT. I THEN DRY SOME IN SUNLIGHT TO BRING OUT THE WARM HUES AND DRY THE REST IN THE DARK TO PRESERVE THE COLOUR.”
