Celia Dowson

British Glass & Ceramic Artist

“THROUGH SMOOTH SURFACES AND REFINED COLOUR NUANCES, MY VESSELS EXPRESS SOFTNESS & BALANCE. WHERE ELEMENTS OF THE MAKING ARE LEFT TO CHANCE, THE CREATIVE PROCESS IS ECHOED & EMBEDDED IN EACH PIECE.”

Celia Dowson graduated from the Royal College of Art, specialising in ceramics and cast glass. By crossing over and adapting traditional approaches and techniques from each medium, she creates unique surface qualities and forms, characterised by precise, clean surface finishes. Tonal blends and colour weave throughout Celia's work. Echoing the changing light and landscapes that heavily influence her collections. Her interest lies in functional objects, how we use and ritualise, commemorate and collect them. The finished pieces take on forms that propose a function but with a conceptual narrative that evokes time and place, allowing them to become contemplative objects.
