New Works in Alabaster & Kilkenny Limestone

 7th October - 5th November

An Introduction from Flow

"THIS BODY OF WORK COMPRISES OF WHITE TRANSLUCENT ALABASTER AND DARK KILKENNY LIMESTONE. A MONOCHROME COLLECTION CONTRASTING AGAINST ONE ANOTHER, FOCUSING SOLELY ON FORM, TACTILITY AND LIGHT.

THE COLLECTION IS MADE UP OF VASES, BASKETS AND SCULPTURAL FORMS THAT SIT SOMEWHERE BETWEEN. SOME PIECES WERE MADE AS PAIRS, INTENDED TO BE EACH OTHER’S NEGATIVE IMAGE. OTHERS CONTINUE MY INVESTIGATION BETWEEN LIGHT AND ALABASTER AND EXPLORE THE TRANSLUCENCY OF THE MATERIAL. "

Oliver Cook’s Solo Show expresses the development of his practice, with evermore adventurous explorations of vessel forms and confident handling of light and shadow. Cook’s mastery of alabaster and its enchanting translucent qualities is coupled with new work in dark Kilkenny limestone – a valuable contrast that creates a dialogue between his pieces.
