FLOW x UMUM OBJECTS
Thursday 17 September 2026
17:30 – 20:30
We are pleased to invite you to a special collaboration with Umum Objects, bringing the work of Chinese artists to Flow for the first time.
Umum Objects is a gallery of objects, craft and regional art, founded by curator Dan Huang and architectural designer Shutong Fan. Working between London and China, they share our interest in artists whose practices are rooted in material, process and place.
For this collaboration, they have selected the work of two makers working in glass, each with a distinct approach. Xueyu He creates organic forms that take unique shape in the kiln, cast freely without a mould. Crystalline shards suspend within the forms, creating unrepeatable moments that recall ice or frost. Tangshui Studio, founded by artists Chengyu Li and Yunxiao Wang, work primarily in pâte de verre (glass powder casting), and have made a collection for Flow in gentle blues. A flared tumbler, designed with Umum Objects for the showcase, is in frosted white. Their functional objects have a beautifully soft, hazy luminosity.
Please join us next week for an evening of wine, tea and snacks brought by Dan & Shutong from China, as we learn more about the artists and their practices.
