Flow is pleased to present a collection of works by artists from Korea. In thinking about the spirit that connects these makers, we return to a reflection by Hyo Jung Lee on her beautiful new book JEONG, where she explores the meaning of jeong and its significance within Korean culture.

"Jeong is an emotional attachment that can only grow over time - between people, objects, places and experiences. To have jeong for something means you’ve shared a deep experience with it and it now holds a place in your heart.

Craft becomes a vessel for jeong because it holds the possibility of a relationship over time. It relates to empathy, tactility, memory and care. Perhaps Korean craft is compelling today because it continuously negotiates between past and present, local and global, handmade and high-tech - and jeong is the thread that keeps those tensions connected even as they transform.”
