Kayo Saito

Japanese Fine Jeweller

“I LIKE MAKING JEWELLERY BECAUSE IT IS AN ART FORM THAT WE CAN CLOSELY RELATE TO PHYSICALLY & PSYCHOLOGICALLY. ONCE THE PIECES ARE WORN, THEIR ESSENCE PASSES ON TO THE WEARER & BECOMES PART OF THEIR IDENTITY & FEELINGS.”

Japanese jeweller Kayo Saito is based in Kent, UK. Kayo first began working with paper to push the boundaries of light and fragility in her jewellery. This developed into discovering techniques to create her jewellery durable and wearable during her Masters at the Royal College of Art (1999-2001) at this point she was still working with paper as her main medium. It was in 2007 that Saito began to work in metal drawing on her interest in the natural world to create a new series.
