Japanese Glass Artist

Flow Gallery is pleased to present a collection of glass works by Japanese artist Fumiko Nagano. Based in Nagoya, Nagano creates vessels that seem to capture light.

Born in Mie Prefecture, Japan, Nagano’s parents ran a lumber business and she grew up captivated by the shimmer of sawdust. This sensory memory echoes in her work.

Her technique - a careful layering of brush-applied powdered glass - creates a subtly textured surface. Through a precise and delicate firing process, these gestures of brush and hand are preserved. Her glass glows with light and has a tactile presence.
