James Trundle & Isobel Napier

British design duo

James & Isobel make furniture in small batches in their South London Workshop, and unique timber wall panels using their offcuts. They first met while studying at the Slade School of Fine Art, where they began to refine their material practices. In their work - both individually and together - they blend traditional craftsmanship with digital techniques, aiming to balance the meticulous control of digital processes with the organic characteristics of natural materials rooted in tradition.

“PROCESS AND MATERIALS ARE THE CORE OUR PRACTICE. IT’S OFTEN IN THE JOURNEY THAT MANY MONENTS OF BEAUTY CAN BE FOUND BEFORE THE RESOLUTION OF A PIECE. MUCH OF OUR MAKING IS GUIDED BY MOMENTS OF SERENDIPITY, WHERE UNEXPECTED TEXTURES AND FORMS EMERGE.”
