Nosan Claystudio
South Korean Ceramicists Seong-il Hong & Hye-jin Lee
Seong-il Hong & Hye-jin Lee of Nosan Claystudio specialise in teaware and ceramic vessels that refresh Korean ceramic traditions. They are based in South Korea’s Boseong region, which is known for its scenic tea plantations; this heritage of the land is complemented by a tradition of teaware. Their refined functional wares express this vibrant tea culture, which seeks beauty in everyday moments. Working in Korean porcelain and clay from Boseong, each piece has an inherent connection to the local land – often using the same soil that grows tea for their clay. The techniques include interpretations of traditions such as Buncheong and Onggi storage jars to make their characteristic works.
