DESCRIPTION

By Elaine Sheppard Bolt

The vessels are thrown on the wheel in white porcelain. Using the same clay, thin twigs are hand-formed and gently attached to the rims of the vessels. The pieces are then fired without a glaze to reveal the soft porcelain surface. In the firing process, the twigs gently soften and flow across the vessel’s rim, whilst remaining delicately balanced.

CARE

The pieces are for decorative use only. As high-fired porcelain they can hold water and can be washed with water and left to dry naturally. However a gentle brush with a feather duster is suggested for keeping the piece dust-free
