Opening November 13th 2025, Flow Gallery is pleased to announce a solo show by JAEJUN LEE. JaeJun is greatly influenced by Lucie Rie, who valued harmony between her work and the environment it inhabits. This can be felt in the presence of his pieces and their ability to inspire a sense of calm in a space.  “I wish for people to simply observe and feel - to connect with the work through quiet contemplation.” Working in porcelain, he finds beauty in purity and the line of a simple form. The discipline of his making finds balance in the introduction of chance in his glazing. Fired at high temperatures, celadon flows around his vessels and red grains scatter through their surface.  “It’s the balance between intention and surprise that keeps the work alive for me.”  The title, Ruach, meaning breath or spirit, reflects this life that emerges through making. Join us to experience the serene stillness of his work at Flow.   ARTIST STATEMENT  It was one Sunday last year. I was sitting in church, listening to the pastor’s sermon. He spoke about the moment in Genesis when God breathes life into His creation, and introduced the Hebrew word ruach — breath, wind, spirit.  “Then the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being.”  Omnipotence, of course, belongs to God alone. And yet, the moment I heard those words, a deep resonance stirred within my heart. To form something from the earth, to give it shape with my hands, and through fire to transform it — is this not, in some way, a kind of breath-giving too?  I held on to that word — ruach — quietly, carefully. It became a thread running through my practice, and I knew it would become the title of this exhibition at Flow Gallery.    Working with clay is, for me, an act of devotion. Each vessel is shaped with the same care, attention, and love — yet each emerges from the fire differently. Unexpected textures, colours, and forms… At times, they emerge beyond my intentions, as if guided by a will of their own. At times, it feels as though they carry a will of their own, choosing what they want to become. 

A solo exhibition by Korean ceramic artist Kwak Kyung-tae. Kwak works exclusivley in 옹기 (Onggi) and 분청 (Buncheong), and his expressive vessels are shaped by the tacit knowledge that comes from a lifetime of working with clay.

This exhibition is our second solo presentation of Japanese artist Chinoko Sakamoto’s ceramic sculptures.

Omega In his first solo show at Flow Gallery, Greg Kent presents his oak sculptures, which capture the dichotomy of nature’s fragility and strength. His unique technique for turning and sandblasting oak reveals the organic patterns of the oak’s growth. Omega – the end of the line, and a transition to something new. His technique of turning and sandblasting oak, a process first developed by French woodturner Pascal Oudet, reveals the intricate, organic patterns formed by the tree’s growth. Greg Kent on Omega: For me, wood and trees are a fundamental part of our existence. They have sustained us in so many ways including: fire, building materials, tools, water storage, furniture and paper. Crucially, they provide us with oxygen and remove carbon from the atmosphere. Woodturning provides an opportunity to give wood another existence rather than being turned into firewood. Turning wood is like uncovering buried treasure as the wood reveals its history, and its struggles. This is manifest in the growth rings, grain patterns and colours. I am interested in the beauty of the wood and by working with wood I want to tell its story and use it to explore narratives. By sandblasting oak I am able to fully reveal the tree's structure and highlight its strength and fragility. This is crucial because we need to engage with nature's fragility and strength if we are to forge a sustainable future. The Omega exhibition represents a major turning point in my craft journey as I start to explore and make the most of the opportunities offered to me as a result of my QEST Scholarship. I work hard to collect wood from local tree surgeons that would have been used as fire wood. The wood is then 'turned green', this means whilst it is still wet. The wood is turned to a thickness of 2mm and allowed to dry. When dry the wood is sandblasted. This has the effect of removing the soft spring growth leaving a lace like effect. This can only be done with oak which has medullary rays which go across the growth rings. This involves combining both wood turning and

Flow’s stand for Collect 2025 focuses on the ‘Spirit of Things’. The theme expresses how hand-crafted objects are imbued with ‘spirit’ – they evidence the process of their maker and come alive through our sensorial encounter with materials. The simple pleasure of experiencing this spirit, particularly in ‘everyday things’, is central to the ethos of Japanese craft. Our stand will explore how craft from Japan and beyond finds beauty in simplicity, to achieve balance and serenity through the objects around us. ‘Tales of Boseong’, a new show by Seong-Il Hong and Hye-Jin Lee, of ceramic teaware from the tea-growing Boseong region of South Korea.

Michèle Oberdieck creates hand-blown glass vessels that explore the fluidity of form and the possibilities of colour. Inspired by biomorphic shapes found in plant growth and decay, her pieces capture the transformations of nature in glass.

Akiko Hirai’s Solo Show “Rin-ne Tensho 輪廻転生” at Flow Gallery, featuring a new collection of work.

Shannon Clegg creates botanical sculptures using a unique hand-moulding technique and fresh-cut flowers, such as Statice and Kangaroo Paw. She reimagines the traditional craft process of flower pressing.

Flow is delighted to present a solo exhibition by the Finnish ceramic artist Kati Tuominen-Niittylä. Her vessels combine multiple techniques alternating between wheel-throwing, casting, and hand-building evoking archetypal silhouettes reminiscent of functional vessels such as buckets and basketry.
